UNCERTAINTIES

NOTHING IS CERTAIN BUT DEATH AND TAXES
(Benjamin Franklin - yes, the man we have to thank for electricity!)

Sounds daunting doesn't it? But let's admit it, we all go through times when we are faced with doubts. Many of us still go through it. As much as I'd like to say that's 'another phase of life'...I don't think it is. The truth is that uncertainty is simply a part of life.

Whether it is the decision of joining a new society in school, choosing your career or even moving homes - there is always THE FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN. Like it or not, we are constantly filled with 'WHAT IF' questions :

'What if they think I'm an idiot?'

'What if I don't fit in?'

'What if my project/ presentation/ date / exam / play *fill in the blank* goes horribly wrong?'

There are no guarantees in life. Well, apart from death. And taxes as mentioned. And all those terrible diseases you'd get if you don't exercise. No one can guarantee that we will wake up the next morning or that the sun will shine.Yet, uncertainties are what push us to our limits. It is the very fact that we do not know the outcome that we work harder and strive for the best. It is what drives us and encourages the creative process. Thomas Edison didn't know that he would invent the light bulb but he tried and finally succeeded on his 100th? attempt.

Uncertainties is also what give us the excitement and flavour in life. Can you imagine knowing how your day will turn out every. single. day? Or if you knew you would be unsuccessful in something. Would you still attempt it? The fact is, uncertainties give us that mystery in life and every so often, we are greeted with pleasant surprises.

I know it's difficult sometimes when there are just so many variables. Especially if you're making a major decision that could be life changing. So to ease that anxiousness, here are my advices:

3. Embrace it - accept uncertainties and treat it like your friend to push you to do better or just keep that spice in your life

2. Understand that Life has its own plans - it sounds silly but I really think it's true. Sometimes shit happens and you think it's probably the worst thing that can occur then. But somewhere down the road, when you look back, whatever happened was just necessary for you to grow and make you stronger

1. Love yourself - at the end of the day, it is yourself against uncertainty. You will have to deal with your decisions and emotions. What's important is to remember that we often neglect the most important person to us - ourselves. We are quick to self blame but never fast enough to give ourselves a pat on the back when we do something well

Now, after this very long post (which is unlike me), I shall leave you with this picture to ponder upon.

IF YOU KEEP HESITATING AND NEVER TAKE THAT STEP FORWARD BECAUSE YOU'RE UNCERTAIN, YOU WILL NEVER DISCOVER THE ADVENTURES THAT AWAIT YOU!

FALLING

We delight in the promise of falling for love.
We crumble in the dread of falling from love.

APPRECIATING LIFE

There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living.

WHERE IS THE "GOOD" IN GOODBYE?

Once again, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I have to announce that my brother (YJ)/ first follower of smalldotfarts/ my poopy buddy is leaving us to further his studies. T_____________________T

I hate being the youngest! I have to witness everyone LEAVING ME BEHIND and nobody feels sad for me when I leave (parents don't count). LOL. Anyway, I just wanted you to know how lonely I'm going to be once you leave. Since we have the habit of disturbing each other when we're bored, it breaks my spirit when I think about walking into your empty room :(((  Even the thought of conquering your room doesn't seem so appealing at times like these. And I would like to apologize for not helping you pack (just like how I ignored PJ and pretended like nothing was going on) BECAUSE (yes, I have my reasons) if I helped you pack with my own hands, it would make me feel like I'm sending you away quicker. And I didn't want that. Ugh, I hate this feeling.

Anyway, have a safe flight and may you have an awesome study trip abroad! Soak everything in as it happens and just enjoy yourself. Not too much though

Thanks for always being my protective brother! :D
ANDDDDDDDDDDD
being supportive of my TRUE FORM! ^00^

We only part to meet again.

NO BOUNDARIES

Hey guys,

Since PJ is currently homesick and going through a rough time, I'd like to dedicate this post to her. I hope she'll find strength in these words and be able to carry on. You know I'm always here for you :)
Fighting! <3

Thought this song might help :)

Seconds, hours, so many days
You know what you want but how long can you wait?
Every moment lasts forever
When you feel you've lost your way

And what if my chances were already gone?
Started believing that I could be wrong
But you gave me one good reason
To fight and never walk away

So here I am still holding on!

With every step you climb another mountain
Every breath it's harder to believe
You make it through the pain, weather the hurricanes
To get to that one thing

Just when you think the road is going nowhere
Just when you almost gave up on your dreams
They take you by the hand and show you that you can

You can go higher, you can go deeper
There are no boundaries above and beneath you
Break every rule 'cause there's nothing between you and your dreams

With every step you climb another mountain
Every breath it's harder to believe

You make it through the pain, weather the hurricanes
To get to that one thing

Just when you think the road is going nowhere
Just when you almost gave up on your dreams
They take you by the hand and show you that you can

There are no boundaries!
There are no boundaries!
There are no boundaries!
There are no boundaries!

There are no boundaries!

And you know how quotes always inspire us in times like this. So, here's a few for you :D

'When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.'
 -Franklin D. Roosevelt-
'Don't give up. There are too many nay-sayers out there who will try to discourage you. Don't listen to them. The only one who can make you give up is yourself.'
                                -Sidney Sheldon-
'Nothing could be worse than the fear that one had given up too soon, and left one unexpected effort that might have saved the world.
                                                                     -Jane Adams-

I was supposed to post about Boohwal & Immortal Song II but since you're more important, this post shall go up first! :)
사랑해! <3

TITANIC

It is 99 years, 2 months and 10 days since Titanic was lost. Upon hearing the word 'Titanic', many memories and emotions are revitalized within me. A few days back, I was watching the movie on TV and I'm honestly amazed at how it never fails to make me cry. Well, that lead to an idea of writing a post on the tragic events that happened on Titanic and how love sometimes come with a sacrifice.

To me, the reason why this movie became such a big hit was not only because it had such a heartbreaking love story but it also captured the true faces of humanity when caught in life-threatening situations. Of course the first thought that comes to mind is to run but as depicted in the movie, you can observe the chaos unfolding right before your eyes. There's no such thing as humanity then. The only mentality they had was to do everything in their power to survive. Even if that meant they had to shoot, shove or stab someone else to achieve what they wanted. Besides, why would you care for someone else's life when you can't guarantee your own tomorrow? I know, I know. I'm not saying that I'm not human. I'm sure if I was on the Titanic, I would be struggling to hang onto dear life and can't give a hoot about another persons' safety. But you see, that's exactly what I want to point out. It's such a frustrating fact and yet there's nothing much that can be done to change it. There isn't a single person out there who doesn't appreciate life. And what's more precious than being alive? I just want to highlight to you guys what a scary world we actually live in. That when circumstances demand for it, how mankind can be ruthless and so out of their minds. How they can do just about anything in order to see the sun rise for another day. It is almost painful to watch James Cameron capture all those ugly yet truthful side of mankind in his film, Titanic. THIS is why the film was so successful. Because it is real. Those emotions portrayed by the people are worth more than millions simply because it is true.

However, this brings my train of thoughts on another issue. The earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis that hit Japan this year was regrettable but it showed the world something truly imperative. A little something like humanity. The people of Japan stuck together and braved the trials that surrounded them with dignity. By the word dignity, I mean, there were no reports of looting or rioting in Japan during the disaster. There was also no pushing, shoving or arguing in line while waiting for food, blankets and other donated assistance. The people in Japan just calmly and quietly waited in an orderly line and only took what they needed. The Japanese culture truly amazes me up till this day. Why weren't we all brought up this way? If mankind were all aware of other peoples' feelings and do our very best to avoid hurting others, wouldn't this world be a much better place to live in? Think about it

And last but not least, I want to talk about the love story that tugs at your heartstrings. The endearing love story which caught the attention of millions and moved them to tears. Some say love is unconditional. Love is truth. Love is joy. Love is not a feeling; it's an act of your will. There are so many definitions and quotes about love but honestly, love, to me is indescribable. How do you measure love? Can you say that you love a person more than they love you? Or perhaps can you measure the depths of a persons' love by counting the years you are in a relationship? The answer is simply no. I love how in the movie, Titanic, they illustrated a love story so beautiful that it transcends through space and time. Who says that people who are young aren't capable of loving someone as much as someone who is older? I'm sure the love between Rose and Jack was real because they believed it to be real. There are no certificates to true love. Weddings are only a tool for women to get their fairy tale ending and simply to make things official. Even weddings these days do not guarantee your happily ever after. I think what keeps the love/ marriage alive is simply to believe. If it was true love 20 years ago, why wouldn't it be true now? If you truly love someone and believe in the love that you share, you would be bonded together forever. No matter what hardships that may come your way, you would always be able to overcome it TOGETHER. Do you remember this movie called Penelope? At the ending, there was a little boy who said, "It's not the power of the curse - it's the power you give the curse." What a smart kid! This applies just as true when it comes to matters of the heart. It's not the power of the love- it's the power you give the love.

This is what I feel anyway. Things that we see but aren't able to describe everyday; humanity and love.

THINK ABOUT IT

And if you're ready to cry, here's something that may help you :)

True love sometimes come with a sacrifice T__________T

SECRET GARDEN : 시크릿 가든

I know, I know. This drama review is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY overdue but I hope it's not too late (for some of you). Okay, firstly, I can't wait to tell you how great this drama is! It's truly the BEST Korean drama up to this date. Since it was produced in 2010, it's not your typical SLOWWWW paced Korean drama where you feel like slapping the lead actors/actresses for being so dumb. I know there's some dramas where conflicts lasts for MANY MANY episodes and you don't see the main actors falling in love UNTIL THE LAST EPISODE. But thank God, Secret Garden is NOTHING like that! Those dramas are so tiring to watch. I mean, I know it's supposed to be DRAMATIC since it's called a drama but come on! The world is evolving. ahahha. Okay, that's exaggerated. Anyway, here's the synopsis of the story! :)

The drama tells the story of Kim Joo Won (Hyun Bin), an arrogant and eccentric CEO who maintains the image of seeming perfection, and Gil Ra Im (Ha Ji Won), a poor and humble stuntwoman whose beauty and body are the object of envy amongst top actresses. Their accidental meeting, when Joo Won mistakes Ra Im for actress Park Chae Rin, marks the beginning of a tense, bickering relationship, through which Joo Won tries to hide a growing attraction to Ra Im that both confuses and disturbs him. To complicate matters further, a strange sequence of events results in them swapping bodies.

Editor's Note: This is NOT your typical swapping of the bodies just for humor. By the end of the drama, you'll understand the purpose of the swap and might even shed a tear. I sure did :')

I SWEARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR THIS DRAMA IS WORTH WATCHING. IT'S MORE THAN WORTH WATCHING. IT'S FANTASTIC! (Don't kill me if you don't like it though)

Did I also mention that the cast are amazing actors and actresses? :)

Anyway, here are some of my FAVOURITEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE quotes from the show. If you haven't watched it before, you might find it puzzling though

"I’m telling you now, from all the poor and alienated neighbors, you’re the only person to receive Kim Joo Won’s first and last hand-written letter. So you can be proud of yourself.

This afternoon, the wind is blowing and it’s shaking the branches.  I hope that when you read this letter, it is in an afternoon when the wind is blowing the tree’s branches just like this. Just now I realize that the magic spell we are under might be a gift from God. So smile joyfully as the recipient of a wonderful gift.  If you laugh from the heart, I will hear that laugh because I am a lot more competent person that you think.  I hope you’ll see the things I see. You’ll stand at the window where I stand, lie down in the bed where I laid down and read the books that I read. Shave my face nicely. Dress me in the expensive, cool clothing that I like. If we could be together even in that way, then it’s enough. Let’s think of it as us being together. That’s enough for us to consider ourselves as happy as other couples."  —Kim Dol Chu
She drives like a car racer. If she witnesses someone’s purse being snatched, someone she’s never met in her life, she’ll throw fists. She has no money and her body is covered in scars, but she doesn’t want to spend even one second of one minute with people like us. She’s that kind of woman. I’ve never seen a woman as cool as her. That… is my answer.
"I'm warning you..don't get mad at me because of another guy. Don't tell me it hurts because of another guy. And don't ever come to me again because of another guy."
“Don’t fall in love with another guy. For the rest of your life, live alone and think of me. This is perhaps the most selfish decision I’ve made in my life.”
“It’s not because I love you, but because I only love you. If I don’t have you, then I won’t have any other choices.”
“Open your eyes. You did something strange and stole my heart, you made me drink something strange and stole my body, showed up at someone else’s party and stole even my lips. If it wasn’t for that, there is no reason for you to look so pretty in my eyes.”

Now can someone please tell me where MY Kim Joowon is hiding?

LETTERS TO JULIET

My FAVOURITE scene and quote :)

Dear Claire,

What and If are two words as non-threatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: What if? What if? What if? I don't know how your story ended but if what you felt then was true love, then it's never too late. If it was true then, why wouldn't it be true now? You need only the courage to follow your heart. I don't know what a love like Juliet's feels like - love to leave loved ones for, love to cross oceans for but I'd like to believe if I ever were to feel it, that I will have the courage to seize it. And, Claire, if you didn't, I hope one day that you will.

                                                                                                                           All my love,
                                                                                                                               Juliet

FRIENDSHIP

FRIENDSHIP is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival.

-C. S. Lewis-
